Chris Lord-Alge was born in 1963 in New Jersey, USA.

Chris is a 5-time Grammy award-winning sound recording engineer, audio mixer, and musician. He is also a music record producer. He has five siblings, two of whom, Tom and Jeff, are also sound engineers.

Chris interest in music were sparked by his parents. While his father earned a living from selling jukeboxes, his mother, Vivian Lord, was a pianist, jazz singer, and Music Theory professor.  She often invited musician colleagues and members of her jazz trio, to their home where they rehearsed.

Learning the Business and Building a Career

Chris started his audio production career as an Assistant Engineer at H&L studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. In 1976, he learned the ropes of the industry from the infamous R&B producer and mixer, Steve Jerome. Jerome is famous for hits like Walk Away Renee by The Left Banke and Sugarhill Gang, 

Chris later became a staff studio engineer for Sugarhill Records. He worked for producers Sylvia and Joe Robinson on groundbreaking hip-hop music, starting with The Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight.” 

Post-Sugarhill, Chris became famous in the early 80s because of his work for a sound recording studio called Unique Recording in New York. He was mixing James Brown’s album, later popularly known as “Living in America.” His fame began after showing his tremendous talent while working albums for famous artists. Some of them are:

Chris won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing in the year 2000. He got that award for mixing a music series for HBO known as “Cher Live at The MGM Grand.”

In 2008, he opened his a recording studio called MIX LA. Chris produced amazing music for artists such as Celine Dion, John Miles, Sugarland, Rob Thomas, Dwight Yoakam, Muse, Echosmith, and more.
