Katheryn Winnick’s real name is Katerina Anna Vinitska. On December 17, 1977, she was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. She is of Ukrainian descent, and Winnick’s parents are Lesia and Roman Vinitska. She grew up with three other siblings. Her brother Mark is also an actor. 

Winnick only spoke Ukrainian as a child, and she didn’t learn English until she was eight years old. Today, the actress can speak five languages fluently, namely Ukrainian, Russian, French, Italian, and English. She also learned the Old Norse Language for the show Vikings.
