Joe Biden began his political career in 1972 as a U.S. Senator from Delaware. While in the Senate, he worked on foreign relations and criminal justice reform issues.
In 2009, Biden became Vice President under President Barack Obama. He helped pass the Affordable Care Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
He also directed the U.S. to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement and made Juneteenth a federal holiday. He created more than 6.6 million jobs in 2021, the most in a single year in U.S. history.
